Juno Awards Backstage: Michael Buble Wishes He Wrote Feist's Song

It was insane backstage at the Juno Awards on Sunday. All sorts of media types swarmed the photo and press areas while waiting with bated breath for the onslaught of stars.
After winning the Doritos Fan Choice Award, enthusiastic crooner Michael Buble was more than happy to joke around with the press. When asked if he actually likes the cheesy snacks, he quipped, "I do actually like Doritos. But I just learned that after I eat them, I can't grab dirty movies!
"Truly, it was a great honour to get this award from the fans. But I had a painful night the other night because I just kept kicking the shit out of myself for not writing '1234.'"
Buble also commented on his experience in Calgary.
"Honestly, one of the coolest things about being here is it's full of down-to-earth people. When I got here to rehearsal, I met [Calgary Flames head coach] Mike Keenan and he took me into the Flames dressing room, and it was pretty cool. I'll be cheering for the Flames and all the other Canadian teams I hate before the playoffs start!"
Feist was the big winner after picking up three awards to go with the two she won the night before. She dropped by to talk about how receiving the awards in her hometown made the experience extra special.
"We used to rent out the community hall in Victoria Park just down the street and put on our own shows. It was just like DIY 16-year-olds in Doc Martens. I was probably wearing the same thing, too, sort of like the whole ironic prom dress thing. And I saw my first concert here, too, when I was eight years old.
"Calgary seems to be doing OK. It seems to be becoming its own metropolis at this point, almost like a new Vancouver or something. I guess I should acknowledge the fact that I was at the Grammy Awards and then came to the Junos. And this is just better. It really makes me comfy and I'm just glad to be here."
Feist also chatted about what it was like to be back at home with her family.
"They're just so ironic. They're like, 'Junos? Right. Anyway... vacuum!' It's very real-life and I'm very grateful for that."
Hoser heroes and Canadian Music Hall Of Fame inductees Triumph discussed their upcoming, yet somewhat under-rehearsed, reunion tour.
"We never really had a great work ethic behind the scenes," joked singer/guitarist Rik Emmett. "It was only when someone was waving a cheque saying, 'Why don't you come to such and such place to play?' And then, oh man! We were there!"
Wintersleep seemed overwhelmed by the attention they received for their best new group Juno, but they loosened up after a few questions. One reporter asked if they remembered a show a couple of years ago in Red Deer, Alta., to which guitarist Tim D'Eon replied, "Yeah man, I remember that show. People were totally doing crack in the bathroom!"
Many other celebs and media members could be seen in the backstage area, including MuchMusic's Matte Babel and Trevor Boris, who apparently helped write material for the broadcast. Canadian Idol judge Jake Gold was milling about, as was Walt Grealis Special Achievement Award winner Moses Znaimer.
