Robert Pollard Is Guided By Voices Towards Two Releases

Robert Pollard has left Merge Records, the fourth label he's been on within two years, and created his own Guided by Voices, Inc. imprint to issue his solo work. The label, named after Pollard's best known band, will release a three-song EP in April and a full-length solo album in June.
The prolific Pollard has released solo albums since 1996, but ramped up that side of things after disbanding Guided By Voices at the end of 2004. Guided by Voices Inc. is run by Pollard with manager David Newgarden, tour manager Rich Turiel and business manager Eric Weiss.
Pollard will launch the label with the digital release of a three-song EP that will be sold on CD and 12-inch vinyl exclusively through his website as of April 8. It features the "Weatherman And Skin Goddess" single from his forthcoming Robert Pollard Is Off To Business album and two tracks that won't be on the full-length: "Kiss The Quiet Man" and "Coat Factory Zero."
Robert Pollard Is Off To Business will be released on June 3. The 10-song, 35-minute record was produced by frequent Pollard collaborator Todd Tobias. The album's release will coincide with Fantagraphics' publication of a coffee table book titled Town Of Mirrors: The Reassembled Imagery Of Robert Pollard.
