Forget F. Scott Fitzgerald, Peter Moren Is The Last Tycoon

Peter Moren
Peter Bjorn And John member Peter Moren will release his 10-track solo debut, The Last Tycoon, on April 8 through Touch And Go's Quarterstick imprint.

The Concretes' Daniel Varjo, solo artist Tobias Froberg and The Tiny string arranger Leo Svensson make guest appearances on the disc, which takes its name from novelist F. Scott Fitzgerald's The Love Of The Last Tycoon, which was unfinished when he died in 1940 but published posthumously in 1941.

Moren has been playing solo shows and showcasing his own material since last year. After a European tour, he'll cross the Atlantic at the end of April for a North American trek that will include Canadian dates in Toronto, Montreal and Vancouver.

Peter Bjorn And John — who also include Bjorn Yttling (bass, keyboards, vocals) and John Eriksson (drums, percussion, vocals) — had a massive hit with the incessantly whistled and catchy "Young Folks" from their third album, Writers Block. The Swedish trio have begun recording a new album, but there's no word on when it will be released.

Here are Moren's Canadian dates:

April 23 Montreal, QC @ Cabaret Musee Juste Pour Rire
April 24 Toronto, ON @ Mod Club
April 28 Vancouver, BC @ Biltmore Cabaret

Here are the tracks on The Last Tycoon:

"Reel To Real"
"Missing Link"
"Old Love"
"Le Petit Coeur"
"Tell Me In Time"
"My Match"
"This Is What I Came For"
"Twisted"
"Social Competence"
"Gaze At The Sky For Long"
