Iron Maiden Announce Western Canada Tour Dates

Iron Maiden

During their show in Toronto on March 16, vocalist Bruce Dickinson of Iron Maiden announced the group will be making a five-stop drop in Western Canada for their summer world tour Somewhere Back In Time. The band have not been to the country’s left half in many years.

"It’s a long time since we played in Western Canada and we very much look forward to returning there," said Dickinson. "For this tour, we will be able to bring along all of Eddie's toys which we couldn’t get on our plane during this first leg. We are all having a great time on this tour and really can't believe the excitement it is creating around the world and the huge numbers of people who are turning out to see us. It makes for a really very exciting time for all of us, fans and bands alike."

The tour was inspired by the band’s recently released DVD, Live After Death, filmed from a Long Beach Arena four-night stop on their Powerslave Tour in 1985. This tour will focus on the band’s history in song choices and stage set, 80’s style. They will even be bringing along the massive mummy of their mascot Eddie the Head, which was featured on the DVD.

How will Iron Maiden tote all of their over-the-top equipment and props? Their own Boeing 757. They will have to make a checklist for their 50-man crew and 12 tons of equipment. They even let Dickinson, a trained pilot, fly the plane once in a while.

Tickets will go on sale Friday, March 28, but starting March 25, there will be a special pre-sale for members of the band’s fan club.

Here are the tour dates:

June 3 Vancouver, BC @ Pacific Coliseum
June 5 Calgary, AB @ Pengrowth Saddledome
June 6 Edmonton, AB @ Rexall Place
June 8 Regina, SK @ Brandt Centre Regina
June 9 Winnipeg, MB @ MTS Centre
