Leonard Cohen Tour Update: First, He Takes The East Coast

Eastern Canadians, Leonard Cohen is your man.
On March 12, we told you Cohen had announced dates for a world tour, which marks his first trip out in 15 years. The 2008 Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame inductee has just added a handful of shows on the East Coast, in Quebec and Ontario scheduled for May and the beginning of June. Those dates join previously announced appearances in Toronto and Montreal in June.
Cohen announced his world tour plans after he was inducted into the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame earlier this week. The tour is in support of Leonard Cohen's as-yet-untitled new album — his first since 2004's Dear Heather — which will be released this year. While on tour, Cohen will also hit Europe, the Glastonbury and Montreux Jazz festivals, and will make a stop in Istanbul, Turkey.
In the meantime, if you live anywhere near Edmonton and those dates just aren't enough for you, you can check out the city's Leonard Cohen Event from July 25-27. It will feature performances from Peter Elkas, Ann Vriend and others, along with academic talks about Leonard Cohen and a film show.
