The Charlatans Will Cross Your Path A Few Times

Charlatans

The Charlatans seem to like variety. The revered U.K. band not only recorded their new album between Los Angeles, Ireland and their own Big Mushroom studio in Cheshire, England, but they're also releasing it as a deluxe double CD with a bonus disc, a single CD, on vinyl and as a free download.

You Cross My Path, The Charlatans' 10th studio album, has three release dates. It set a precedent last week by becoming the first U.K. album to be released for free by a British radio station when a download was made available on Xfm's website. The free download will be up for grabs on the group's website on March 17. The hard copies will be issued on May 13 through Cooking Vinyl/KOCH.

The Charlatans formed in 1989 and reached the spotlight when their second single, "The Only One I Know," hit the British top 10 a year later. They've gone on to enjoy nine top 10 albums (three of which hit #1) and 22 top 40 singles in their homeland.

You Cross My Path, which was being recorded more than a year ago, includes 10 tracks recorded by Jim Spencer and mixed by Alan Moulder (Nine Inch Nails, The Jesus And Mary Chain).

The group have U.K. concerts scheduled for May and June.

Here are the tracks on You Cross My Path:
