Billy Talent, The Creepshow And Others Play Queen Street West Fire Benefit Shows

If you're still bothered by the Feb. 20 fire which gutted eight buildings on Toronto's Queen Street West, here's your chance to help the victims and rock out at the same time. Four benefit shows will be held this week at Holy Joe's, The Reverb and the Bovine Sex Club on the city's Queen West strip.
The first two benefits will be held on Monday night. The Speaking Tongues, Mariposa, Steve Shoe, Llions, Farewell To 44, The 9AM Social and Sean Pinchin will play at Holy Joe's. Basement Arms, The Salarymen, Anagram, Thee Diet Pills/Birdweek, Arietta, Gone Hollywood and others will hit the stage downstairs at The Reverb. Both shows are all ages and cost $10 at the door. There will also be a bake sale and crafts table to raise additional funds. Clothing donations are encouraged.
The Bovine will host shows down the street on Friday and Saturday. Friday's lineup includes Chameleonize, Trigger Effect, Titan and Sloan's Patrick Pentland acting as DJ. The cover is $10 at the door. Billy Talent (who will soon be the opening act for My Chemical Romance's U.S. tour), The Creepshow, Latefallen, Black Lungs and others will play on Saturday night starting at 9 p.m. for $20.
The Queen West fire destroyed eight historic buildings between Bathurst and Portland streets, laying waste to six businesses, including Suspect Video, National Sound and Duke's Cycle. The fire caused nearly $10 million in damage and about 60 people lost their homes and/or businesses.
