If you think Goodbye Blue Monday, the title of Canadian singer/songwriter Jeremy Fisher's latest album, indicates a distaste for music from the '80s, you're wrong.
Fisher will open for Scottish brother duo The Proclaimers throughout their spring North American tour. The Proclaimers, of course, are best known for their 1988 hit, "I'm Gonna Be (500 Miles)." They released their seventh album, Life With You, last year.
"Touring is such a great part of being a musician, and being able to share a stage with pop culture icons like The Proclaimers is definitely a once in a lifetime opportunity," Fisher says.
Fisher first attracted attention in 2001 when he took his bicycle on tour across Canada in support of his Back Porch Spirituals debut. Let It Shine was released in 2004 and Goodbye Blue Monday hit stores last year.
Fisher is nominated for two Juno Awards: new artist, and adult alternative album of the year for Goodbye Blue Monday. He'll be part of a Joel Plaskett-hosted songwriters' circle with Tegan And Sara, Alex Cuba and Serena Ryder at Calgary's Jack Singer Concert Hall on April 6 as part of the Juno Awards weekend.
