Pearl Jam, Neil Young, Tom Waits And Others On Body Of War Soundtrack

The soundtrack for Body Of War, the award-winning documentary about a paralyzed American Iraq war veteran, will be released on March 18 by Sire Records.
Body Of War: Songs That Inspired An Iraq War Veteran was assembled by the documentary's subject, Tomas Young, who chose songs that inspired him in his struggle to adapt to life after he returned home from Iraq. Young enlisted in the U.S. Army on Sept. 13, 2001. On April 4, 2004, while in Baghdad's Sadr City, his unit was ambushed and he was shot through the chest. The bullet exited through his spine and Young was instantly paralyzed from the waist down.
Former talk show host Phil Donahue met Young while the veteran was recovering at Washington, D.C.'s Walter Reed Army Medical Center. Donahue contacted Emmy Award-winning documentary filmmaker Ellen Spiro to help him make a film about Young's struggle and his transition from soldier to anti-war activist. Donahue and Spiro produced and directed the film, which was screened at the Toronto International Film Festival in September. The film later won the National Board Of Review Of Motion Pictures' award for best documentary of 2007.
Body Of War was recently screened at the Miami International Film Festival and the Santa Barbara International Film Festival and will be shown on March 13 at the South By Southwest Film Festival in Austin, Texas.
