Linkin Park And Stone Temple Pilots To Play Edgefest This Summer

Edgefest, the annual festival organized by Toronto radio station 102.1 The Edge, will return this summer after a one-year hiatus.
Edgefest 2008 will be held July 12 at Toronto's Downsview Park. It will be headlined by Linkin Park and will also feature the recently reunited Stone Temple Pilots. The Sam Roberts Band, The Bravery, Ashes Divide, Attack In Black, Arkells, The Coast, Creature, The Flatliners, Hostage Life, Modernboys Moderngirls, The Stereohoax, Sweet Thing and USS (Ubiquitous Synergy Seeker) will also take over one of the two stages being used for the event.
"We're going to do our best to make the festival as green as possible," says Edge program director Alan Cross. "For example, the unique location of Downsview Park will allow everyone to leave the car at home and take public transit. Linkin Park is the perfect partner for this because they're committed to environmental issues."
Tickets go on sale on Saturday at 2 p.m. through Ticketmaster for $80.50, plus a two-dollar facility fee. Inside Edge members can purchase tickets beginning Wednedsay at 10 a.m. for $75.50, plus the facility fee.
The first Edgefest was held in Barrie, Ont. at Molson Park in 1987 and featured Blue Rodeo, The Pursuit Of Happiness and Teenage Head. It was originally conceived as a "thank you" to station listeners to celebrate its 10th anniversary, but became an annual summer event that even toured across the country from 1996 to 1999.
