Weakerthans, Stars And Caribou Are Among Rising Stars Finalists

The 2008 Galaxie Rising Stars Award Of The CBC, which carries a $3,000 cash prize, will be presented to one of 10 finalists at Canadian Music Week's Indie Awards on March 8 in the Canadian Room of Toronto's Fairmont Royal York Hotel.
The Galaxie Rising Stars Program was launched to discover, encourage and promote new domestic artists. Unlike the fan-voted Indie Awards, the winner of this prize will be chosen by Canadian music journalists who were initially asked to submit a list of their five favourite Canadian independent releases of 2007, and will now be asked to vote for one of the 10 who made the short list.
