Flogging Molly Float On March 4

Los Angeles Celtic roots-punk act Flogging Molly will enter their second decade with SideOneDummy's March 4 release of Float.
Dublin-born singer/songwriter/guitarist Dave King formed the band in 1997, and they've grown from playing a local pub to touring the world in support of the three studio that preceded Float, which was recorded in Ireland by King, Dennis Casey (guitars, vocals), Matthew Hensley (accordion, concertina, piano, vocals), Nathan Maxwell (bass, vocals), Bridget Regan (violin, tin whistle, guitar, Uilleann pipes, vocals), Robert Schmidt (mandolin, mandola, banjo, vocals) and George Schwindt (drums, percussion).
"If it didn't have mandolin, accordion, fiddle and whistle, it would be punk rock, and if it didn't have guitar, bass and drums, it would be traditional Irish music," says King. "You can't be bothered being labeled."
SideOneDummy will throw in a free T-shirt if you pre-order Float. Album opener "Requiem For A Dying Song" can be previewed on the group's MySpace page.
Flogging Molly's 2006 CD/DVD documentary, Whiskey On A Sunday, was recently certified gold in the U.S., where their albums have combined to sell more than a million copies.
Flogging Molly's annual Green 17 Tour begins on Friday and will cover 30 North American cities — including shows on Feb. 18 at Toronto's Kool Haus and the next night at Montreal's Metropolis with The Reverend Peyton's Big Damn Band and Dusty Rhodes And The River Band — before it moves on to Japan, Australia and Europe.
