Black Crowes Slap On Warpaint Before Launching Rock Attack

The Black Crowes

The Black Crowes will be back in force in 2008 with their first LP of all new studio material in seven years and a subsequent tour.

Warpaint is due on March 4 on the band's newly formed Silver Arrow label, which will be distributed by Megaforce/Red/Sony BMG. Brothers Chris and Rich Robinson wrote 10 of the album's 11 tracks, while "God's Got It" was written by Reverend Charlie Jackson. It was produced and mixed by former Crowes guitarist Paul Stacey at Allaire Studios in Woodstock, New York.

The follow-up to 2001's Lion features two new Crowes — guitarist Luther Dickinson from the North Mississippi Allstars and keyboard player Adam MacDougall — joining the Robinsons and drummer Steve Gorman and bassist Sven Pipien. Despite the lineup changes, you can still expect the same blend of rock, blues, country and soul that the band have built their career on.

Album opener "Goodbye Daughters Of The Revolution" can be heard on the group's website.

The Black Crowes have sold more than 20 million albums in their 18-year career and have toured all over the world. They'll continue to do so this year, with a U.S. tour that begins on March 2 in Sayreville, New Jersey kick off their world-tour in Byron Bay, Australia on March 24. From there, they'll go to Australia, England and Holland before returning home for more American shows.
