Stephen Malkmus And The Jicks will release Real Emotional Trash, the follow-up to 2003's Pig's Lib debut, on March 4 via Matador.
The former Pavement frontman is joined on the record by Joanna Bolme, Mike Clark and Janet Weiss, the former Sleater-Kinney drummer who joined in 2006 when John Moen became the full-time drummer of The Decemberists. Real Emotional Trash was recorded by TJ Doherty (Sonic Youth, The Hold Steady) at SnowGhost Studios in Montana.
"Baltimore" can be previewed on Matador's website.
Fans who pre-order the album through Matador will immediately receive a stream of it as well as a song called "Walk Into The Mirror." There will also be a recording of the band's Dec. 21 show at Portland, Oregon's Doug Fir Lounge and a poster. Ninety days after Real Emotional Trash's physical release, pre-orderers will receive every album B-side and exclusive track. To get all of the above, visit Matador's "Buy Early Get Now" website.
Since the dissolution of Pavement, Malkmus has released 2001's eponymous album and 2005's Face The Truth under his own name. He came up with the Jicks moniker by taking the 'J' from Jagger and putting it in place of the 'M' in Mick.
