Tony Dekker Scores And Does Neil Diamond

Great Lake Swimmers main man Tony Dekker scored Song Sung Blue, a documentary that premiered on Sunday at the Slamdance Film Festival in Park City, Utah.
Director/producer Greg Kohs' film follows the story of the Milwaukee, Wisconsin husband and wife team of Mike and Claire Sardina, who comprise the Neil Diamond tribute act, Lightning & Thunder. It's the first full-length feature film for the 10-time Emmy Award winner. The movie's title comes from Diamond's 1972 hit, which Dekker covers during the closing credits.
"The honesty and emotional warmth of Tony's music provides an intimate texture to the film's captured not contrived style of storytelling," says Kohs of Dekker's first film score.
Dekker will give a free acoustic performance on Wednesday at Cicero's in Park City, where he'll be joined on stage by Claire Sardina (Thunder). It will be the first show she's done in more than a year.
Great Lake Swimmers released their third full-length album, Ongiara, in 2007. It was the follow-up to 2005's Bodies And Minds and 2003's self-titled debut. The band also issued a free live EP last year, which they spent much of on the road, including supporting Feist on some of her Canadian tour dates in December.
