Republic Of Safety Call It Quits

Republic Of Safety
Attention! Republic Of Safety will close their border due to "other interests" and "full-time jobs" and will play their final show at Toronto's Sneaky Dee's on Jan. 26.

The Toronto post-punk quintet will also release their farewell EP, Succession, on the same night. Lex Vaughn, The Blankket and Elbow Beach Surf Club will also be on the bill.

Republic Of Safety are composed of Maggie MacDonald (vocals), Marlena Kaesler (vocals, bass), Jonny Dovercourt (vocals, guitar), Steve Sidoli (drums) and Martin Eckhart (saxophone). They formed in 2004 and released two EPs: Passport and Vacation, the latter of which featured contributions from busybodies Owen Pallett and Gentleman Reg.

You may know MacDonald from The Hidden Cameras and as the playwright of the rock opera The Rat King that premiered in New York City last summer. She also designed the artwork for Succession, which was recorded, mixed and mastered by Andrew McAllister. EP songs "You're Only Lonely" and "Rip You Apart" can be previewed on the group's MySpace page.

Here are the tracks on Succession:
