British Sea Power Like Rock Music

British Sea Power

Brighton, England indie rock group British Sea Power's Krankenhaus? EP was released Nov. 20 and will be followed in North America on Feb. 12 by their third LP, Do You Like Rock Music?

The eccentric band answer the Rough Trade album's title question like this:

"Most probably, yes. It's the most expressive medium in human history and provides undemanding employment for many thousands. Rock music easily encompasses both 'Wop bop a loo bop a lop bam boom!' and the Big Bang theory of cosmological origin. Suddenly there's a nice big noise. This noise makes you feel you can say something. Anything really — but, best of all, something no one's said before."

What's the difference between the LP and the EP? Ten songs. Two other tracks ("Down On The Ground" and "Atom") are shared, and both releases feature ex-Arcade Fire drummer and producer Howard Bilerman and Godspeed/Silver Mt. Zion's Efrim Menuck. "Atom" and forthcoming single "Waving Flags" can be heard on the group's MySpace page.

Do You Like Rock Music? was recorded in Montreal, the Czech Republic and Fort Tregantle on England's Cornish cliffs.
