Joel Plaskett Emergency Declared At ECMA Nominees Announcement

Joel Plaskett Emergency

The Joel Plaskett Emergency turned the Cellar Pub & Grill at the University Of New Brunswick in Fredericton into their own Ashtray Rock when it was announced that the group have been nominated for seven East Coast Music Awards.

There are lots of other multiple nominees for the awards that will be presented at a gala ceremony hosted by This Hour Has 22 Minutes cast member Mark Critch at Fredericton's Aitken Centre on Feb. 10. Wintersleep received five nods, while Chucky Danger, Nathan Wiley and Jimmy Rankin picked up four, and George Canyon, Classified, Jamie Sparks and Two Hours Traffic are up for three prizes. Another 15 artists received two nominations each.

The nominees were chosen by industry professionals from New Brunswick, Newfoundland, Labrador, Prince Edward Island, mainland Nova Scotia and Cape Breton Island, while members of the East Coast Music Association will determine all of the winners except for entertainer of the year. Members of the public can choose their favourite in that category, which includes Canyon, Jill Barber, Joel Plaskett Emergency, Ron Hynes and The Trews.

There will be a full slate of music showcases in the days and nights leading up to the awards show, with performers including Two Hours Traffic, Hey Rosetta!, Damhnait Doyle, Mark Bragg, The Tom Fun Orchestra, Jenn Grant, The Jimmy Swift Band, Chucky Danger, Slowcoaster, Matt Andersen, Charie A'Court, Rebekah Higgs, Down With The Butterfly, The Superfantastics and many more.

A complete list of nominees and more details on ECMA week activities can be found on the ECMA website.
