Amy Winehouse Arrested For Perverting The Course Of Justice

Troubled English singer/songwriter Amy Winehouse looks like she could take a fall along with her jailed husband after she was arrested on Tuesday for perverting the course of justice.

While police haven't yet named Winehouse, they disclosed that a 24-year-old woman was arrested during an appointment at London's Shoreditch police station in connection with alleged interference with a police investigation. Britain's Daily Mail newspaper reports that Winehouse was interviewed, fingerprinted and underwent a DNA test before her arrest. She was released on bail until March.

Winehouse's husband, Blake Fielder-Civil, was arrested for perverting the course of justice as well as for assault in connection with an alleged offer to bribe bartender James King, who he was accused of beating on June 20. Winehouse's sparring partner is said to have offered King $400,000 to withdraw his official statement to police regarding the incident.

Since Fielder-Civil likely doesn't have that kind of cash on his own, and Winehouse's Back To Black album has sold 3.3 million copies worldwide this year, police probably believed they had sufficient grounds to implicate the boozy chanteuse for having a role in the plot.

Fielder-Civil has been in jail since Nov. 8 and will remain there at least until his next court appearance on Jan. 18.

Babyshambles singer and convicted junkie Pete Doherty appeared in court to support Fielder-Civil on Nov. 11 and has apparently been chumming around with Winehouse during her time of need, which has seen her cancel a series of concerts and promotional appearances on the advice of doctors who fear for her health.

Considering Doherty's track record (and track marks), Winehouse's father Mitch is understandably upset that his little girl has been spending time with supermodel Kate Moss' ex-boyfriend.

"He's a scumbag," the elder Winehouse told Grazia magazine. "I flipped when I saw him sitting with Amy backstage at her Brixton gig.

"That night I went crazy. My wife thought I was going to have a heart attack, I was apoplectic."

Despite all of Winehouse's problems, Back To Black is the biggest selling album of the year in Britain and she was nominated for six Grammy Awards earlier this month, second only to Kanye West's eight.
