British dance music group Hot Chip will follow their Mercury Music Prize-nominated The Warning breakthrough album with Made In The Dark on Feb. 5.
The album was produced by the band with help from live sound engineer Jonathan Digby. "Hold On" and "Out At The Pictures" were recorded live in one take.
The first single off the 13-track EMI album, "Shake A Fist," features a Todd Rundgren sample. It created anticipation for the LP when it was released earlier this year on 12-inch vinyl. A number of the other tracks have been performed live over the past two years.
Hot Chip were formed by school friends Alexis Taylor and Joe Goddard, who were subsequently joined by Owen Clarke, Al Doyle and Felix Martin. In addition to their own songs, they've done remixes for The Rolling Stones, Scissor Sisters, The Go! Team and Gorillaz, and they put together a DJ Kicks compilation that was released in May.
Hot Chip will showcase the new album, including new single/video "Ready For The Floor," with a performance in New York City on Feb. 2 and in Los Angeles two nights later.
Here are the tracks on Made In The Dark:
