Holy Fuck Take A P.I.L. And Hit #1

With Holy Fuck's LP jumping one position to take over the #1 spot on the top 50 chart for the week ending Nov. 30, I wonder (if we'd have been doing charts in 1985) whether Public Image Limited's similarly titled Album (it was called Cassette in cassette form and CD on CD) would have topped the college chart. I played the hell out of it back in my college days, so I know it would have charted. Anyway, Holy Fuck's title homage to P.I.L. knocks Buck 65's Situation to #2, ending its two-week run at #1.
The Evaporators' Gassy Jack And Other Tales moves up 36 places to #3, forcing The Barmitzvah Brothers' Let's Express Our Motives down a place to #4, which causes a one-notch drop for The Sadies' New Seasons to #5. Stars' In Our Bedroom After The War rises one place to #6, while Caribou's Andorra improves by three increments to #7. Both albums have been on the chart for 15 weeks.
Cuff The Duke's Sidelines Of The City jumps five places to #8, staying just ahead of Ween's La Cucaracha, which climbs six positions to #9. Radiohead's In Rainbows drops a deuce to #10.
The Chart Sizzler Award goes to the #16 finisher, The Hives' The Black And White Album. The runner-up debut is the soundtrack to the new Bob Dylan quasi-biographical film, I'm Not There, at #20. Sandro Perri's Tiny Mirrors enters at #32, The Cansecos' Juices! debuts at #39 and Inhabitants' The Furniture Moves Underneath arrives at #47.
Along with its pre-eminent spot on the top 50, Holy Fuck's LP climbs a spot to grab top honours on the Electronic chart, which currently features five albums that have at one time sat at #1. Boys Noize's Oi Oi Oi, which was #1 two weeks ago, rises a place to #2. Last week's #1, Prefuse 73's Preparations, drops to #3. Calvin Harris' I Created Disco re-enters at #6 and Caribou's Andorra does likewise at #9.
The only album from last week to remain at #1 on the five specialty charts is Buck 65's Situation. Ron Davis' Subarashii Live rises eight places to hit #1 on the turbulent Jazz/Blues chart, which features five new entries and two re-entries. Youssou N'Dour's Rokku Mi Rokka moves up two spots to land at #1 on the World top 10. As predicted last week, Dillinger Escape Plan's Ire Works unseated the lengthy run of High On Fire's Death Is The Communion at #1 on the Metal/Punk chart.
