Rex Goudie Plans To Kick Ass Without A Record Company

Rex Goudie

We don't want to shock you too much, but Rex Goudie's next album won't come out through Sony BMG. The runner-up from the third season of Canadian Idol is a free agent.

"As most of you probably know, I've been dropped off of SBMG's roster," Goudie wrote in a MySpace blog entry on Sunday. "No biggie, I can survive.

"I'm takin this time to start fresh, gunna work my arse off for the next little while, make a record that kicks ass, and come back somewhere in the future, kinda like the terminator, only I won't want to kill everybody, just melt faces at a rock show. I deleted all of the really old blogs off of here to help myself, sorry if it's dissapointing to anyone, but they've been there for two years, time for some new ones, no??

"I'm in Nashville Tennesee now, for a week, writing some tunes. I'm excited to get started tomorrow, work on making my own record. You'll enjoy it, I guarantee."

People better enjoy it, as it certainly doesn't appear that Goudie has a future as an English teacher."Sexy Rexy," as he was known by a few folks, released his Under The Lights debut album in 2005. It debuted at #5 on the Canadian sales chart and was certified platinum for selling 100,000 copies. The former Newfoundland mechanic followed it with last year's Look Closer, but most people looked past that effort.

Stop laughing, Melissa O'Neil. You could be next. The same goes for you, Kalan Porter. But perhaps you could look into forming a new supergroup with Ryan Malcolm. The Fallen Idols has a nice ring to it for a band name.
