Amy Winehouse Cancels Concerts And Watches Wrestling

Amy Winehouse has cancelled the rest of her European concerts and other public appearances for this year on the advice of her doctor, who has ordered her to rest and deal with her health issues.

"I can't give it my all onstage without my [husband] Blake," said a statement released by Winehouse's publicist. "I'm so sorry, but I don't want to do the shows half-heartedly; I love singing. My husband is everything to me and without him it's just not the same."

Winehouse's husband, Blake Fielder-Civil, is sitting in a British prison on a charge of "attempting to pervert the course of justice" after allegedly offering bartender James King $400,000 U.S. to withdraw a police statement regarding an assault that Fielder and three other men were accused of carrying out on the man in June.

Winehouse is probably as well-known for her drinking as for her critically acclaimed music, and she's said to have suffered a drug overdose in August that finally prompted her to pay a brief visit to rehab after claiming that she wouldn't in her best-known song.

Winehouse and Fielder were arrested for marijuana possession in Norway last month. The 24-year-old singer previously cancelled North American appearances and her recent U.K. performances have been panned as she's been criticized for being unstable. There was an unsubstantiated report that she was doing drugs on stage during one concert.

Maybe Winehouse can relax during her downtime by watching professional wrestling. She's said to be a big WWE fan, with Rob Van Dam and Canadian Chris Jericho being her favourite grapplers. A friend of Winehouse told British newspaper The Sun about her meeting Van Dam a few years ago.

"Amy was so excited about meeting him, she would not stop talking about it. She was much more excited to meet a wrestler than a musician. She used to go crazy whenever Rob was on TV."

Winehouse may be an anorexic lightweight, and Fielder-Civil may be in jail after allegedly beating up a guy, but she seemed to handle herself pretty well during a scuffle with him in August, so maybe watching wrestling has given her a few hand-to-hand combat tips.
