Have A Fucked Up Christmas With Nelly Furtado

Toronto punk act Fucked Up and a slew of their musical friends will release a special Christmas single this holiday season, with all proceeds going to Toronto's George Herman House.
The A-side of the seven-inch features a new four-minute holiday-themed song called "David Christmas" that's "about the birth of our lord and savior: David Eliade," the band's manager/promoter. The song will also serve as a taste of what's to come on their upcoming LP, The Chemistry Of Modern Life, which will be released next year.
The B-side features a "very special Christmas/Hanukkah/Kwanzaa song" that's "called something like 'Stars On 45.'" According to the band, it features contributions from an unbelievable number of guests, including Nelly Furtado, James Murphy (LCD Soundsystem), Cole Alexander (Black Lips), Davey Havok (AFI), Matt Sweeney (Chavez, Zwan), Kevin Peterson (What's Your Rupture), Faris Rotter (The Horrors), Mike Fellows (Rites Of Spring), Dave One (Chromeo), Jacob Thiele (The Faint), Morag And Ursula, Jay Reatard, Dan Romano (Attack In Black), Trevor Keith (Face To Face), Jason Green (Panthers, Orchid), Jerry A. (Poison Idea), Shenae Grimes (Degrassi: The Next Generation) and Scott Vogel (Terror).
"This is not a joke," the band say of the collaborators. "All of these people (willingly) participated in the recording of this song. This is probably the most bizarre collaboration that they have/will ever do."
The self-released single was recorded in studio space donated by Chris Hegge of Toronto's Audiolab Studios and will be limited to 1,000 copies. An even more limited amount will be enclosed in "special Fucked Up wrapping paper" donated by Simone of Punchclock.
Fucked Up will perform at Toronto's Sonic Boom Music on the afternoon of Dec. 15. They promise that Santa will be in attendance and will even take over vocals for the band at some point in the set. You can even have your picture taken with him. There will also be appearances by several "surprise guests."
The event is free, but the band ask that anyone attending bring a non-perishable food item and, if they'd like, a donation for George Herman House, which offers transitional housing and life skills programs for women living with mental health issues in Toronto.
For those who can't make it to the in-store performance to buy the single, it will also be available for $10 through mail-order and online, though details apparently still have to be worked out.
