Kanye West Receives Eight Grammy Nominations, While Feist Gets Four

Feist

Egomaniacal hip-hop artist Kanye West will have a chance to make eight acceptance speeches at the 50th annual Grammy Awards, as he leads the way with eight nominations. And while it's nowhere near the honour that being named Chart's 2007 artist of the year is, Feist should be happy that she received four Grammy nods when the announcements were made in Hollywood on Thursday.

Feist is up for best new artist, best pop vocal album for The Reminder, and best female pop vocal performance and best short form music video for "1234."

Amy Winehouse received six nominations, Foo Fighters, Jay-Z, Timbaland, Justin Timberlake and T-Pain got five, while Feist is joined with four by Akon, Dierks Bentley, Chris Daughtry, Tim McGraw, John Newton, Ne-Yo, Rihanna and Bruce Springsteen.

Other Canadians receiving nominations include: Arcade Fire for best alternative music album for Neon Bible; Nelly Furtado for best female pop vocal performance for "Say It Right" and best pop collaboration with vocals for "Give It To Me," on which she worked with Timbaland and Timberlake; Nickelback for best rock performance by a duo or group with vocals for "If Everyone Cared;" Rush for best rock instrumental performance for "Malignant Narcissism;" Michael Buble for best male pop vocal performance for "Everything" and best traditional pop vocal album for Call Me Irresponsible; Emerson Drive for best country performance by a duo or group with vocals for "Moments;" Joni Mitchell for best pop instrumental performance for "One Week Last Summer;" Loreena McKennitt for best contemporary world music album for An Ancient Muse; and last, but never least, Walter Ostanek And His Band & Brian Sklar And The Western Senators for best polka album for Dueling Polkas.

The Grammy show will take place on Feb. 10 at Los Angeles' Staples Center and be broadcast live on CBS starting at 8 p.m.
