My Bloody Valentine Plan To Release New Album Themselves

My Bloody Valentine

Following the recent announcement that British shoegazer band My Bloody Valentine will reunite for a spate of U.K. shows and record a follow-up to 1991's classic Loveless, their manager told Billboard.com that the quartet plan to go it alone without a label.

"At the moment, all I can say is that Kevin is getting the band back together and they will go into the studio next month to work on the new record," said Vinita Joshi of the band's notoriously reclusive leader, Kevin Shields. "The plan is that they will release the album themselves via the Internet, but there will also probably be a vinyl release."

All four members from the Loveless lineup of the group (Shields, singer/guitarist Bilinda Butcher, bassist Debbie Googe and drummer Colm O'Ciosoig) will return on the new album and for the band's U.K. tour.

There are no North American shows scheduled, but ticket demand for their first British shows since 1992 has been extremely high. The first three shows sold out after just six minutes, prompting the band to add four more performances. Joshi denied rumours that My Bloody Valentine would appear at April's Coachella Music & Arts Festival in California. The band's U.K. dates begin on June 20 and the manager said they'll "see how the summer shows go first" before deciding if they'll add more gigs.
