Buck 65 Tops Two Charts

Release The Saviours

Though this is known as Grey Cup week to many Canadians, Charty Chart Chat proclaims the next seven days Buck 65 Week since the MC/turntablist from Mount Uniacke, N.S. has the relatively rare distinction of simultaneously topping two charts. His new Situation album makes a 10-spot jump to grab the #1 position on the top 50 chart while also beating all competitors on the Hip-Hop chart.

Sunset Rubdown's Random Spirit Lover drops a spot to #2, while Holy Fuck's LP rises four places to #3 and Weakerthans' Reunion Tour continues to hold on at #4. Stars' In Our Bedroom After The War falls three places to #5. Caribou's Andorra holds steady at #8, the CBC Radio 3 Sessions Volume 3 compilation slides down four notches to #9 and Radiohead's In Rainbows jumps six positions to #10.

You have to drop down another 10 spots to find the Chart Sizzler Award winner. Fond Of Tigers' Release The Saviours debuts at #20 with appearances on seven campus radio charts, including #1 on CITR (UBC), #4 on CFRU (Guelph) and #9 on CKDU (Dalhousie). The runner-up debut, buried at #36, is The Pipettes' We Are The Pipettes. The five specialty charts feature three new #1 albums. Buck 65's Situation moves up one place to grab top honours on the Hip-Hop top 10, while Boys Noize's Oi Oi Oi makes a similar move to claim supremacy on the Electronic chart. McCoy Tyner Quartet's self-titled album moves up a couple of spots to swipe #1 on the Jazz/Blues top 10 from Dee Daniels' Jazzinit, which tumbles four places to #5. There was quite an upheaval on this chart, with six new entries and one re-entry.

High On Fire's Death Is The Communion remains #1 on the Metal chart and Mr. Something Something's Deep Sleep also hold its place atop the World/Folk rundown.
