Scott Weiland Won't Have New Japanese Stories For His Memoirs

Velvet Revolver frontman Scott Weiland is set to join bandmate Slash by publishing his memoirs.
The former Stone Temple Pilots singer has signed a deal to write his autobiography in collaboration with author David Ritz, the "Sexual Healing" lyricist who has co-written autobiographies for Marvin Gaye, Aretha Franklin, Ray Charles and veteran insult comic and actor Don Rickles.
"It's a weird thing," Weiland said of the book backstage at Sunday night's American Music Awards, according to Billboard.com. "You make a lot of records, write a lot of songs, but all of a sudden you go into a whole different vein and it's a little bit scary to dive into."
You'll have to read Weiland's work to find out if it's as scary as heroin addiction, serving prison time, rehab, DUI charges or having a wife that sets your clothes on fire.
Slash recently published his self-titled book, which he wrote with Eminem and Tommy Lee biographer, Anthony Bozza. He's apparently received some interest from Hollywood producers in adapting the tome for a movie.
Weiland will have more time to devote to his memoirs since Velvet Revolver have been denied entry into Japan, where they were supposed to play in four cities later this month. A statement released by the band said that "increasingly tough" Japanese immigration officials didn't look highly on the backgrounds of some of the group members, which include a number of arrests, and wouldn't grant them visas.
"We want to apologize to our fans in Japan that we won't be able to perform our scheduled concerts," Velvet Revolver said in the statement. "We don't understand why the authorities won't give us visas, when they granted them for us in 2005 for what was a successful tour and a great experience. We love Japan and look forward to our return there."
Velvet Revolver will begin an Australian tour in Brisbane on Dec. 4.
