Robin Black: Glam Rock Cage Fighter

Robin "Fucking" Black hasn't been his normal drinking and carousing fixture in Toronto clubs for the last year, and was reduced to sipping on Bud Light when he hosted the Air Guitar Canada national final in July. But he's kept the low profile and health-conscious way of life for a reason: he's been in training.

The Intergalactic Rock Star is in the last week of shooting the television program Robin Black: Cage Fighter, according to a post written on a Facebook page of the same name on Sunday. He'll end the week at the mixed martial arts open trials this weekend and then do an "exit interview" on Monday to wrap up taping for the show.

The first episode is scheduled to air 10 times on MuchMusic between Dec. 24 and 31 and will also be shown on MuchMusic.com.

"We have shot the intro (which was cool) and the TV commercials (which start running mid december)," wrote Black. "It's been pretty tough trying to make a new record AND training to fight in a cage (I am going to hospital today to check a cracked rib), but it is all coming together."

Black was one of the judges on MuchMusic's VJ Search: The Series last year and has long been involved in martial arts (and has tales of using them on mouthy rednecks over the years), so the new show sounds like a good fit.
