Iron Maiden To Release Live After Death DVD

When you're talking greatest live heavy metal albums ever, Iron Maiden's 1985 classic Live After Death is a surefire, guaranteed, don't-even-try-and-argue-it-because-you'll-be-wrong member of everyone's list. And now you'll be able to open up a spot on your greatest heavy metal film list because Live After Death is coming to DVD on Feb. 5.
Up the irons, run to the hills and tell Eddie, because you powerslavers are in for a double-disc dose of Dickinson and the boys. Disc one features the video to accompany the legendary live album, which was filmed in 1984 over four nights in Long Beach, California. It's now mixed into 5.1 Digital Surround Sound for maximum aural destruction and if you're a purist, the disc still contains the original stereo soundtrack.
Disc two features a multitude of tasty treats. First, there's the 60 minute documentary History Of The Band — Part 2, detailing through many interviews the Live After Death period of Maiden's career. Then you have Behind The Iron Curtain, which follows the band through Poland and other parts of the Eastern Bloc — not an easy go in 1984. Throw in Maiden's performance at Rock In Rio '85 and some other way-cool extras and you have all you need to die with your boots on.
Wait my little troopers, that's not all. Maiden have also announced a tour to coincide with the release. Better learn to walk like an Egyptian because the Somewhere Back In Time World Tour will feature the famous Powerslave stage set, in its entire elaborate pyramid-rocking glory. Oh, and you know Eddie will be there, wreaking havoc as per usual. Best yet wrathchilds, the band will stick to the classics. Yay, no Blaze Bayley.
Iron Maiden's lone Canadian date is March 16, 2008 in Toronto at the Air Canada Centre.
