Courtney Love Calls Madonna "Weak"

In an effort to ride the coattails of other people making news, former Hole frontwoman Courtney Love launched an unprovoked attack on Madonna in a recent blog posting.
In the course of Love's rambling missive she labels Madonna, "calculating" and "weak as an artist." These are mighty harsh words since Madonna has lasted in the music business for nearly three decades solely on her own merits, whether they be music or her preternatural ability to create controversy.
Uncoincidentally, Madge made international headlines on Oct. 16, signing a $121 million concert/album/merchandise deal with concert promoter Live Nation.
"Hard work and major discipline doesn't equal great art and all of those are great things — I covet them. I have great discipline and do work like a bionic thing," wrote Love in typically incoherent fashion.
The "bionic thing" is currently serving as an executive producer on the Universal Pictures adaptation of Charles R. Cross' Kurt Cobain biography, Heavier Than Heaven.
Yesterday, the NME reported that Love had sold the rights to Nirvana's catalogue as part of the film deal.
"It's important, as for it to be a definitive Kurt biopic you need the music," Cross told the NME.
So it would seem that Love's definition of "hard work" amounts to juggling the two arduous time-consuming tasks of selling off music you had nothing to do with, while at the same time forever living off of the dividends of a two-year marriage largely based on heroin use.
In an odd sort of parallel, Love thrust herself, albeit briefly, into the forefront of Owen Wilson's attempted suicide this past August in similar, unprovoked fashion. Love lashed out at former boyfriend Steve Coogan, blaming him for Wilson's alleged drug use. Funny how she shows up just when someone more famous or gifted than her is making headlines, but hey, everyone needs a talent.
