Broken Social Scenester Jason Collett Announces Solo Album Release Date

Jason Collett

Broken Social Scene's Jason Collett has completed work on his third solo record. Here's To Being Here will be available Feb. 5 from Arts & Crafts.

"This is very much an old school guitar record, in the sense of it being very tasteful, that's one of the greater accomplishments of this record," Collett says of the record, which features his touring band Paso Mino.

"Recording in bigger spaces and live-off-the-floor allowed us to capture some of the band energy. This allowed for spontaneous creations, which led to many wonderful little accidents."

Here's To Being Here is the follow-up to Idols Of Exile, his 2005 solo collection. Recorded in Toronto by musician producer Howie Beck, Being Here features guest spots from Collett's fellow Broken Social Scene member and Apostle Of Hustle frontman Andrew Whiteman as well as friends Tony Scherr (Norah Jones) and The Stills' Liam O'Neil.

Currently touring as support with pixie sensation and label-mate Feist, Collett will be playing a special series of shows in December titled "Jason Collett's Basement Revue." The shows, which will be held at Toronto's Dakota Tavern December 4, 11 and 18, will see Collett performing tracks from his three solo albums and will feature surprise guests throughout the series.
