New Pornographer To Put Out Fancey Schmancey Solo Album

Todd Fancey, guitarist for Canadian rockers New Pornographers, will release his second solo album, Schmancey, on What Are Records on November 13.
Fancey, who also worked with Todd Kern's glamtastic Static In Stereo, has been acting as the opener for the Pornos while they've been touring this fall.
"It's where my bread and butter is, but it's also really fun," Fancey says of touring with the Pornographers on his website. "I love The New pornographers, love playing this music and I wouldn't do it if I didn't, but I have a real passion for studio recording and those old albums that have nothing to do with live music."
With fellow Pornographers Neko Case, Carl Newman and Dan Bejar (Destroyer, Swan Lake) already pursuing successful solo careers and often stealing all the glory as the more public faces of the band, the guitarist feels he still has something unique to offer New Pornographers fans.
"It's almost my mission to make super pop," Fancey says of new album Schmancey. "It's not really super-contrived in terms of style, I just like the music to come out of the speakers with a brightness."
Fancey plans to head out for some strictly solo dates as soon as the Pornographers take a break from their Challenges tour.
Schmancey is the follow up to Fancey's 2004 self-titled solo debut.
Here are the songs from Schmancey:
"Witches Night"
"Lost In Twilight"
"Call"
"Gulf Breeze"
"Bitter Life"
"Fader"
"Karma's Out To Get Me"
"Whoa"
"Feels Like Dawn"
"Heaven's Way"
"Downtown II"
"Let The Breeze In"
"Cross O' Gold"
