Radiohead Box Set Will Fight Capitalism... With Capitalism

Radiohead may have left their longtime home on the Parlophone label, but that doesn't mean their former label is going to take it lying down. The NME reported Monday that Parlophone will compile Radiohead's seven full-length releases from their tenure on the imprint for a special edition box set.
The collection will be available on December 10, just in time for Christmas! Pablo Honey, The Bends, OK Computer, Kid A, Amnesiac, Hail To The Thief and I Might Be Wrong will be assembled in digi-pack format (those glossy cardboard CD sleeves everyone is so fond of these days), though with the original artwork intact. It's a pretty safe bet this won't be another "set-your-own" price free-for-all.
But wait, there's more! For the Thom Yorke fan who just can't get enough of that googly-eyed tunesmith, there's also going to be a special USB dongle available. Done up in the shape of Radiohead's bear logo, the dongle will act as a teeny tiny electronic version of the box set, including digitized artwork. It could be the most expensive ornament you hang on your tree this season. In addition to the convenience of keeping all of your Radiohead records in one, fancy white box or small stylized electronic device, those who opt for the holiday cash-grab will be entitled to some exclusive footage, available online. Though, if history has taught us anything, it should be all over the 'net within hours of its release.
The collection will also be available for legal (and eventually illegal) download. All of the products can be seen on radioheadstore.com. A couple possible names for the box set thrown around by Chart Staffers: The Guilt Box: Seeing how Generation Y has already downloaded the band's entire catalogue they can now listen guilt-free to Thom Yorke wail about how screwed up the world is — and subsequently feel guilty, but for totally different reasons. Or our alternate: Capitalism Isn't So Bad When It's Contained In Nicely Adorned Special Edition Packaging.
