New Morrissey Albums And Tour Will "Take It To The People," But Not Canadians?

Ex-Smiths crooner Morrissey is planning another tour that will likely leave seal-slaughtering Canadians out in the cold once again. His management made several big announcements recently, including a new deal in the works for a greatest hits record and a studio album, plus another tour in January 2008.

Last year The Moz decided to boycott performing in Canada in protest of this country's annual seal hunt, which sees maritime fisherman supplement their income off-season by killing baby seals with clubs. The practice of collecting the seals' valuable pelts has gathered a cavalcade of celebrity opposition, including Mick Jagger, Sir Paul McCartney and Pamela Anderson.

Morrissey is currently in America wrapping up his extended world tour in support of last year's Ringleader Of The Tormentors. Moz happily continues to tour the U.S.A. frequently, despite referring to that nation as a "big fat pig" in the song "America Is Not The World." He has also refused to take a stand against that country's Vice-President endorsing the hunting of the world's most dangerous game: man.

There may be some shred of hope for fans in The Great Red North. The stated Morrissey touring philosophy will be to "take it to the people instead of having the people come to us," according to his manager, Merck Mercuriadist. So perhaps that sense of adventure and the surging Canadian dollar might lure The Moz back to the land of blood and snow.
