After a string of troubles that includes being jailed after a Waffle House scuffle and being sued for plagiarism, Kid Rock seems to have hit a stroke of good luck to go along with the success of his new Rock N Roll Jesus album.
Misdemeanor battery charges stemming from an altercation between Rock (real name Robert James Ritchie) and Motley Crue drummer Tommy Lee during the recent MTV Video Music Awards are being dropped by Las Vegas authorities, according to television's Extra program.
"The Clark County District Attorney's Office will not pursue a battery charge," chief deputy district attorney Ron Bloxham told Extra. "It should be noted that Tommy Lee has requested that there be no prosecution relating to the incident and there were no injuries to either person."
The news must be a relief to Rock, who's still facing charges for his Waffle House brawl and a lawsuit brought against him from Maurice Foreman, who claims that the white trash rocker lifted segments from one of his songs for Rock's new "So Hott" single.
The VMA incident occurred during an Alicia Keys performance and wasn't noticeable during the telecast, although video of it is now widely available online. Rock has attributed the fisticuffs to Lee's bad attitude.
"What it boils down to is a level of disrespect for a lot of years between me and him — him towards me — and it had nothing to do with Pamela," Rock told MTV News, referring to his and Lee's mutual ex-wife, Baywatch babe and current magician's assistant Pamela Anderson.
