T.I. Released On $3 Million Bond, But Still Under House Arrest

Rapper T.I. was released from jail on $3 million U.S. bond on Friday after being charged with possession of unregistered machine guns and silencers and possession of firearms by a convicted felon.
"I want to thank all the fans for their support," T.I. told supporters as he left Atlanta's federal courthouse, according to Associated Press. "Due to the severity of the situation, I can't say much more. I want to get all of this behind me."
The Grammy Award-winning artist had been held for two weeks after allegedly organizing the purchase of three machine guns and two silencers using his bodyguard as an intermediary. As a convicted felon, the rapper is forbidden to own or purchase any firearms.
T.I. (real name Clifford Harris Jr.) will remain under house arrest at his home in Georgia until his trial. He must also submit to 24-hour-a-day GPS monitoring at his own expense.
The only people allowed to live with the rapper during his house arrest will be his girlfriend and children. Any visitors must go through a background check and may also be searched.
T.I. will be allowed to leave the house, which can be searched at any time, for medical appointments and court appearances only. He's also forbidden from owning firearms, drinking alcohol and having any contact with witnesses or informants in his case. The 27-year-old was also required to surrender his passport.
Agents and representatives from the monitoring service reportedly searched T.I.'s house Friday morning to ensure it was free of contraband. The rapper isn't allowed to have safes in his house or car after police discovered weapons in a safe that could only be opened with a scan of the rapper's fingerprints.
U.S. Magistrate Judge Alan Baverman said the rapper will be allowed to find appropriate work, and T.I.'s lawyers said that he'd work at his home studio.
Baverman also warned the MC that "a number of very bad things will happen" should he violate the conditions of his bond, including his bond being revoked or a potential jail term increased.
T.I.'s bodyguard, whose name hasn't been released, was arrested on Oct. 10 after attempting to purchase the firearms without legally registering the sale. According to an affidavit, he used money that was taken out of one of T.I.'s bank accounts on his orders.
It was also revealed, at a hearing last week, that up to a half-pound of marijuana and three handguns were discovered in the rapper's car at the time of his arrest.
If convicted, T.I. could face up to 10 years in prison and a $250,000 fine for each charge.
