British post-punk heroes Wire proved that they weren't past their prime with the first two installments of their critically acclaimed Read & Burn series of EPs, so hopes are high for the third volume.
Read & Burn 03 will be released on Nov. 12 through the band's Pinkflag label, which is named after their landmark 1977 album. The four-song, 25-minute EP follows Read & Burn 01 and Read & Burn 02, which were both released in 2002.
Wire's last full-length, 2003's Send, included tracks from the previous Read & Burn EPs. No material from Read & Burn 03 will appear on the group's next album.
Samples from the new EP can be heard and the record pre-ordered on the Post Everything website.
Singer/guitarist Colin Newman, bassist Graham Lewis, drummer Robert Grey and guitarist Bruce Gilbert formed Wire in 1976 and have disbanded and reformed several times since then. They've influenced a variety of younger acts, including Franz Ferdinand and (perhaps most directly) Elastica. Read & Burn 01 was the first all-original record from the band since 1991.
Here are the tracks on Read & Burn 03:
"23 Years Too Late"
"Our Time"
"No Warning Given"
"Desert Driving"
