Weezer Frontman Releasing Demo Compilation While Working On Other Stuff

Weezer fans have a lot to look forward to, with frontman Rivers Cuomo busy with several different projects, including a book, a Weezer album and, more immediately, Alone — The Home Recordings Of Rivers Cuomo.
The latter is set for a Dec. 11 release via Geffen. The album is a collection of Cuomo's favourite demos, spanning from 1992 to 2007.
Cuomo originally planned to put out the record in conjunction with his book, but that plan has been scuttled, according to an Oct. 15 blog entry on his MySpace page:
"After many intense conversations with book publishers and record company people, I've decided to split my CD/book project in two. Ultimately, I feel that the music and the literary materials will be better served if developed and presented separately.
"The book is now going to come out at a much later date —a year? Two years? Three years? I don't know. It's going to be very cool, though. I'm digging what I've already got (nearly 400 pages) and I'm enjoying the process of writing and researching."
Weezer are working on their sixth studio album, the follow-up to 2005's Make Believe, which is expected sometime next year. According to a post on the band's website, it's "definitely weezer, but not quite like any weezer I've heard before. Or rather, not like any one style that weezer has ever tried, but a fresh combination with some new flavors on top.
"It sounds really cool. Like an excellent music farm. Or perhaps a food co-op."
