Say Anything Get A Little Help From Their Friends In Defense Of The Genre

Los Angeles punk band Say Anything will issue their guest-laden, double-disc concept album, In Defense Of The Genre, on Oct. 23.
The J Records release was produced and mixed by Brad Wood (Smashing Pumpkins, Liz Phair) and features guest spots from many of Say Anything's friends and fellow musicians, including My Chemical Romance frontman Gerard Way, who sings on the title track. Dashboard Confessional's Chris Carrabba contributes to "Retarded In Love" and Taking Back Sunday's Adam Lazarra lends his pipes to "Surgically Removing The Tracking Device."
Lead vocalist/lyricist Max Bemis is joined by bandmates Coby Linder (drums), Alex Kent (bass), Parker Case (keyboards, guitar, vocals) and twin brothers Jake and Jeff Turner (guitars, vocals), as well as even more guests: Pete Yorn, Anna Waronker, DJ Swamp, Saves The Day's Chris Conley, Alkaline Trio's Matt Skiba, former Rainier Maria member Caithlin De Marrais, Paramore's Hayley Williams, Bayside's Anthony Raneri and The Starting Line's Kenny Vassoli.
"Skinny, Mean Man" and "Shiksa (Girlfriend)" can be previewed on Say Anything's MySpace page.
