Impossible to define alterna-rockers Ween return with the Oct. 23 release of their first studio album in four years, La Cucaracha.
The band's Rounder debut was recorded in a converted farmhouse in Pennsylvania with longtime producer Andrew Weiss.
"The album is great," says guitarist Mickey "Dean Ween" Melchiondo on the band's website. "It's not even open for discussion¦ whatever expectations you have will be met, I guarantee it."
"Your Party" includes a guest spot by smooth jazz saxophonist and unlikely Ween fan, David Sanborn.
"I love David Sanborn," Melchiondo told Billboard.com. "We always said we're never going to have horns on a Ween record, unless we can get David Sanborn."
"Friends" can be previewed on the group's MySpace page.
Melchiondo and Aaron "Gene Ween" Freeman formed Ween in New Hope, Pennsylvania in 1984. They've released more than 20 studio and live albums since then. Ween will embark on their most extensive tour in three years in support of La Cucaracha. It kicks off on Oct. 16 in Bloomington, Indiana and includes these Canadian dates:
Oct. 26 Toronto, ON @ The Docks
Nov.14 Vancouver, BC @ Queen Elizabeth Theatre
Nov. 16 Calgary, AB @ Flames Central
Nov. 17 Edmonton, AB @ Edmonton Events Centre
Here are the songs on La Cucaracha:
