New Releases: Bruce Springsteen Has Your Magic Right Here

Honestly, I'm having a hard time focusing on this week's new releases, knowing that we're nine days away from a new Radiohead record. Not just that, a double-disc Radiohead record. It kind of dwarfs whatever else is coming out for the rest of the year. But some artists are putting stuff out over the next few weeks, so I'll try to keep my cool and write about them.
This week, Bruce Springsteen is back with the E Street Band for a record called Magic. Radiohead have a number of tracks on it that they performed on tour last year — oh crap, I totally can't stop thinking about Radiohead. Umm... the E Street Band feature the drummer from Conan O'Brien's late-night show and Silvio Dante from The Sopranos. And they're going on tour starting on Tuesday.
Beirut have been on a roll ever since Gulag Orkestar was released, and now The Flying Cup Club will probably bring on a breakout of epic proportions. You can go to their website and pay whatever you want for it. And it's two discs! God damn it, that's Radiohead's In Rainbows again. Back to Beirut... seriously. The new album features a guest vocal turn from Final Fantasy's Owen Pallett and should have every indie girl this side of Mars swooning in the next four minutes.
The Pipettes made headlines earlier this year with their throwback sound, image and live show. The debut from the British trio of attractive women is called We Are The Pipettes, and it's out on Tuesday.
You know who else is British? PJ Harvey. Ha! I bet you totally thought I was going to say Radiohead. Well, I was, but then I decided to talk a bit about Harvey, whose baroque White Chalk record is also out this week. Actually, that's all I have to say about it.
Next week, I'll be back to talk about a little band from Oxford who are making waves on the interweb.
