The Black Dahlia Murder Release New Album As They Enter Canada

The Black Dahlia Murder

Detroit's The Black Dahlia Murder are promoting Tuesday's release of their new Metal Blade album, Nocturnal, with a North American tour with Cannibal Corpse, The Red Chord, Goatwhore and The Absence to celebrate their label's 25th anniversary.

"It's fuckin' awesome," says bassist Brian Eschbach. "So far all the shows have been super-killer.

"All the bands who are on the tour are really awesome bands and really good dudes, so just being on the tour and hanging out is fuckin' fabulous. It's one of the best tours I have ever been on, so we're all super-stoked."

Nocturnal is the band's follow-up to 2005's Miasma, which made a brief appearance on the Billboard Top 200 sales chart. After touring with Ozzfest in 2005 and Sounds Of The Underground last year, The Black Dahlia Murder made sure not to toy with their musical formula too much with Nocturnal, while still pushing the envelope for themselves as musicians.

"We're stoked. We've been done recording for a while now and have been basically sitting around waiting for the record to come out. We all want to know what people will think about it. We all think it's our best stuff yet, so we're just really stoked to hear what our fans and other people have to say about it.

"[The new material] is more challenging than any of the stuff from the previous two albums. I think Shannon [Lucas], our drummer, has got some pretty intense parts, too, that he's really trying to get comfortable with. It's definitely a step up. We're trying to push ourselves with each record to do better."
