Chris Brown And Kate Fenner Together On Two New Albums

Chris Brown

Longtime collaborators Chris Brown and Kate Fenner will both release solo albums next month.

Oblivion, credited to Brown and The Citizen's Band, was recorded at the Cathouse in Brooklyn, New York and mixed on Wolfe Island, Ont. Fenner's second solo effort, Magnet, was recorded and mixed with Brown at the same places.

Brown and Fenner first got together in their hometown of Toronto, but both have since moved to New York City.

The 10-song Oblivion features contributions from Fenner, The Holmes Brothers, Sarah Harmer and Mickey Raphael.

The togetherness inherent in the two albums will carry over to the stage, where Fenner, Brown and The Citizens' Band (Tony Scherr, Anton Fier and Teddy Kumpel) will host a residency at Toronto's Dakota Tavern on Sept. 6 and 13. Albums will be available at the shows and online as of Sept. 18.

Brown has worked on upcoming albums by Rocky Roberts, Rod Alonzo and Mads Mouritz, as well as a compilation in support of Lake Ontario Waterkeeper that features Harmer, Broken Social Scene, Pete Seeger, Bill Frisell and others.
