The white substance discovered at DMX's Cave Creek, Arizona house during an Aug. 24 police raid wasn't drugs as initially suspected, but the trouble-prone rapper isn't out of the woods yet.

The carcasses of three dead dogs found buried on the property, one of which was burned, are being sent to a forensics scientist in Atlanta to discover their cause of death and see if they were abused or possibly used in dog-fighting. Twelve living, but undernourished, pit bulls were found at the house. They're currently being held in an air-conditioned jail cell as evidence.

The issue of who was responsible for feeding and watering the dogs is in question. DMX (real name Earl Simmons) wasn't home at the time of the raid and is said to have not been there for anywhere from three weeks to several months, depending on who you believe. A caretaker named Brad Blackwell was said to have been paid to look after them, but he told police that he had warned DMX that he'd be going on vacation on Aug. 23 and didn't know who'd be replacing him.

Police also uncovered automatic and semi-automatic weapons, license plates that can't be traced to the vehicles they were on, drug paraphernalia and a "usable amount" of marijuana during their search.

No charges have been laid and DMX's lawyer, Murray Richman, has refused to tell police where his client is. If an arrest warrant is issued, Richman said DMX will co-operate with authorities.
