Amy Winehouse Battered After Fight, But Says Her Husband Saved Her Life

Amy Winehouse and husband Blake Fielder-Civil were scratched, cut, bruised and bloodied after an altercation in a London, England hotel room early on Thursday morning.
Photographers captured images of the couple that made it into newspapers and online, and witnesses said that they heard them arguing loudly before the singer fled the hotel around 3:30 a.m., followed closely by her husband. Winehouse ran down the street, flagged down a car, got in with the strangers and drove out of sight. She was apparently let out and bought cigarettes at a store.
She returned an hour later, met Fielder-Civil, and they were pictured arm in arm as they re-entered the hotel, where Winehouse was interviewed by police.
"Following a third party report to police regarding suspected injuries to a woman in her twenties, police officers spoke with the woman and no criminal offences have been alleged," a Scotland Yard spokesperson told Britain's Telegraph newspaper.
After seeing the published photos, Winehouse sent a text message to show-business blogger Perez Hilton to get her version of the incident out to the public and defend Fielder-Civil from wife-beating accusations.
"Blake is the best man in the world," Winehouse wrote. "We would never ever harm each other.
"I was cutting myself after he found me in our room about to do drugs with a call girl and rightly said I wasn't good enough for him. I lost it and he saved my life."I'll be alright. I need to fight my man's corner for him though.
"He is an amazing man who saved my life again and got cut badly for his troubles. All he get is horrible stories printed about him and he just keeps quiet, but this i too much."
Winehouse, 23, was recently admitted to a London hospital where it was reported she was treated for a drug overdose. She and Fielder-Civil briefly entered a rehabilitation clinic, but left and have been staying in a London hotel since then. She's cancelled her upcoming concerts, including an appearance at next month's Virgin Festival in Toronto.
