Nikki Sixx's Heroin Diaries will arrive in CD and book form next month.
The Heroin Diaries Soundtrack comes out via Eleven Seven/Universal on Sept. 11, a week before MTV/VH1 Pocket Books/Simon & Schuster's Heroin Diaries: A Year In The Life Of A Shattered Rock Star. The record — written and produced by Sixx, James Michael and DJ Ashba, who collectively call themselves Sixx A.M. — serves as a companion to the book about the musician's relationship with heroin and his band, Motley Crue.
Lead single "Life Is Beautiful" features a video directed by Paul Brown (Stone Sour, Audioslave), who also designed the album and book graphics.
The book, co-written by Sixx (real name Frank Feranna) and journalist Ian Gittins, is based on journal entries beginning at Christmas in 1986 and deals with how he balanced being both a junkie and the bassist for one of the biggest bands in the world at the time. It features contributions from those who witnessed Sixx's struggles, which were also touched on in The Dirt: The Autobiography Of Motley Crue. A portion of the sales proceeds from the book will go to Running Wild In The Night, a fundraising initiative for Covenant House California that helps get young people off the streets.
In addition to Sixx's own music endeavours, he's writing songs for other artists, working on a movie and developing a clothing line.
Here are the songs on The Heroin Diaries Soundtrack:
"X-Mas In Hell"
"Van Nuys"
"Life Is Beautiful"
"Pray For Me"
"Tomorrow"
"Accidents Can Happen"
"Intermission"
"Dead Man's Ballet"
"Heart Failure"
"Girl With Golden Eyes"
"Courtesy Call"
"Permission"
"Life After Death"
