50 Cent Vows To End Solo Career If He Can't Outsell Kanye West

Rap star 50 Cent has been known to indulge in a bit of hype, so it remains to be seen if he'll live up to his threat of putting his solo music career in mothballs if Kanye West's Graduation outsells his Curtis when both albums go on sale on Sept. 11.

"If Kanye West sells more records than 50 Cent on September 11, I'll no longer write music," the entrepreneurial artist (real name Curtis Jackson) told hip-hop website SOHH.com. "I'll write music and work with my other artists, but I won't put out any more solo albums."

Fiddy's last album, The Massacre, sold 1.14 million copies in the U.S. in its first week of release in 2005. West's Late Registration racked up more than 860,000 sales in its debut week the same year.West has been criticized by 50 Cent in the past, but the two men recently collaborated in the studio on material that won't appear on either of their imminent albums.

Meanwhile, 50 Cent allegedly threw a temper tantrum last week when he found out that the video for Curtis track "Follow My Lead" (which features pop singer Robin Thicke) leaked on the internet. According to TMZ.com, he told Interscope Records that he wouldn't help it promote the album since he blames the company for the leak. He's also said to have ripped a large-screen plasma screen television off a wall and thrown his telephone through his office window.

If the hip-hop mogul refuses to promote Curtis, the chances of Graduation outselling it increase. If you're interested in laying a wager on who will win this battle, online gaming company Bodog is willing to take your money on its website.
