Weezer's Rivers Cuomo Publishing Diaries?

Weezer

According to the folks at Gawker, geek overlord and Weezer frontman Rivers Cuomo may be looking to get his journals published.

The bespectacled singer has apparently been keeping regular diaries throughout his Weezer days as well as during his foray into post-secondary education at Harvard. For the record though, Cuomo isn't quite sure about the book publishing thing.

"I am not shopping my 'memoirs," he posted on his personal blog. "I am working on an amazingly cool creative project that is just as much musical in nature as it is literary. It may or may not be released by a book publisher. It is not a 'memoir.' Word to your mother."

This wouldn't be the first time Cuomo has dipped his feet into the publishing world. Who can forget that memorable appearance in Chart Magazine's Feb. 95 edition that featured Suede on the cover? In said article, Cuomo shattered the myths behind then-frequently-asked questions "What was it like working with Ric Ocasek? "What is 'The Sweater Song' about?" and "What is 'Buddy Holly' about?" His response, he wrote, was "to shrug my shoulders and try to pass myself off as mentally retarded."

In said column he also went on to admit that his songs are stupid... but not as stupid as anything by Boyz II Men, and namedropped Rob Halford before calling pop metal anthems "We're Not Gonna Take It" and "Cum On Feel The Noize" "classic" songs. Sadly, you can't purchase this issue. It has long since sold out. Check Ebay or ask a Weezer obsessive.

For other good Cuomo reads, search out his college admissions essay. According to a post on Weezer.com, the band are working on a new album. The post went... "Hey Party-People, Weezer is just polishing up a batch of songs for a recording session that is going to start at the beginning of July. This will be the final recording session for our 6th album which we aim to put out in the first half of 2008. We hope you are all having good times. Love, R-dawg"
