Swedish singer/songwriter Jose Gonzalez will release his sophomore album, In Our Nature, on Mute Records on Sept. 25.
The 29-year-old's voice and classical guitar is subtly augmented on the album by percussion from Erik Bodin and backing vocals from Yukimi Nagamo. In Our Nature follows 2003's Veneer, which was released in 2005 by Mute in North America, and has sold 700,000 copies worldwide. Gonzalez's gentle melodies landed him performance slots on Conan O'Brien and Carson Daly's late-night talk shows and his music was featured in episodes of The OC, One Tree Hill and Friday Night Lights. His popular cover of fellow Swedes The Knife's "Heartbeats" (a top 10 hit in the U.K.) was used in a Sony Bravia commercial.
Gonzalez is also in Junip with Tobias Winterkorn and Elias Araya, and he collaborated with Zero 7 on their most recent album, The Garden.
While Gonzalez has dates slated in Japan, New Zealand, Australia, the U.S. and the U.K. through October, no Canadian shows are on his current schedule.
Here are the songs on In Our Nature:
"How Low"
"Down The Line"
"Killing For Love"
"In Our Nature"
"Teardrop"
"Abram"
"Time To Send Someone Away"
"The Nest"
"Fold"
"Cycling Trivialities"
